To verify product conformity with PCI and DOT specifications by performing applicable tests and monitoring and documenting product construction and applicable duties in Precast.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist in inspection and verification of the accuracy of dimensions of units, quantity and location of reinforcement and cast-in items, forms and mold layout, and other matters pertaining specifically to production.
  • Assist in checking adequacy of the form to product units without undesirable distortion or surface defects.
  • Assist in inspection and observation of stressing operations to insure that specified procedures are followed and design forces are obtained.
  • Assist in fabrication of representative test samples and concrete testing.
  • Assist in inspection of all finished products for conformance with shop drawings and all applicable specifications set forth by the project owner.
  • Assist in preparation and maintenance of complete quality control records (paper and electronic) for all products. These records shall include all information pertaining to the production of each unit and will provide a means by which a unit may be identified.
  • Assist in maintaining calibrations on all QC equipment.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Good planning, organization, and basic math (geometry, algebra, trigonometry) skills.
  • Broad base of knowledge in concrete construction and testing.
  • Must be an excellent communicator and able to deal effectively with a wide range of personalities.
  • Diverse knowledge of inspection and control methods, techniques and documentation.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Windows, MSO Word, MSO Excel, databases, & and data acquisition software.
  • Ability to read blueprints

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Have or achieve PCI Level I and/or Level II certification.

As a Quality Assurance Supervisor for AE Concrete Products Inc., you will be responsible for all quality and environmental programs within AE Concrete; ensuring that we consistently produce quality precast products that meet the requirements and specification of customers, and regulatory bodies. This role will ensure our systems are effective and will proactively drive continuous process improvement to further improve our quality processes and procedures. As a champion for quality, this position will provide leadership, training, instruction, and mentorship to the entire business, while directly supervising those individuals that are responsible for inspection, testing and auditing. This individual is also responsible for ensuring the collection & analysis of data necessary to identify issues, root cause, and corrective actions.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and support the business related to quality certifications and environmental regulations.
  • Proactively lead all external communication and interaction regarding quality and environmental.
  • Document Control: maintain and control all documents, policies, procedures, and forms & ensure records remain accurate and in compliance.
  • Supervise a team of Quality inspectors to execute material testing and process/product inspections.
  • Provide mentorship & coaching of quality team for departmental goals and expectations.
  • Perform training and orientations and create quality talks to improve facility knowledge of quality.
  • Manage, maintain & report on all Non-conformances in the NCR Database through regular follow up with and in support of production personnel. This includes non-conforming product disposition, root cause, risk analysis, preventative / correction action plans, tracking completion & subsequent verification that processes are sustainable throughout the entire business operations.
  • Administer programs related to Quality and Environmental, identify improvement opportunities through the development and analysis of data and KPI’s and report monthly to senior management.
  • Coordinate with external bodies as required to gather, investigate, clarify concerns, and realize opportunities (CPCQA, CSA, etc.)
  • Perform Internal Audits and inspections as necessary
  • Develop and maintain program documents, including Manuals, Inspection and Test Plans, Quality Plans.
  • Effectively communicate identified issues to applicable departments and track status
  • Perform daily inspections to gauge the quality culture and to review, identify & document deficiencies in Quality and Environmental throughout the company processes.
  • Generate and present monthly quality reports on KPIs, new/outstanding non-conformances, corrective actions, and recommendations for business improvements.
  • Help optimize the concrete mix design for production methods and changing conditions.
  • Any other reasonable duty or responsibility as deemed necessary for the business.

Education & Experience:

  • CTech, AScT, or equivalent designation
  • Minimum 2-3 years of QA/QC experience, preferably Precast Concrete
  • Experience in manufacturing or construction, preferably in Precast Concrete
  • Experience in visual inspection and Quality Assurance / Control in manufacturing

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledgeable in all applicable Certification Standards (CSA A23.4, PCI MNL-116 & 117, ISO 9001, etc.).
  • Auditor training

Licenses & Certifications:

  • PCI Level 1, Level 2 preferred

Physical Demands:

  • Duties will be split between walking the plant floor and at a desk in an office environment, distribution is based on complexity of work. Requires frequent periods of sitting and working in front of a computer, bending, standing and walking and does require the ability to move light to moderate material or equipment.
