The Yard Manager is responsible for overseeing the efficient and safe operation of the precast yard, with a focus on managing staff, equipment, and workflow. This includes supervising the handling and storage of precast products, as well as the operation of gantry cranes and other material-handling equipment.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily yard activities, ensuring smooth handling, storage and movement of precast products
  • Prepare concrete panels for shipping and loading onto semi-trailers.
  • Manage and supervise yard personnel, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and safety.
  • Provide leadership and resolve operational challenges efficiently.
  • Utilizing two-way headset and hand signals to efficiently communicate with crane operators.
  • Coordinate with production and logistics to meet operational priorities and delivery schedules.
  • Safely assist crane operators in loading panels onto trailers for shipping.
  • Follow shipping schedule and ensure correct panels are loaded.
  • Maintain and follow proper safety procedures for safe rigging of panels and operation of cranes.

Education & Experience:

Minimum of 5 years experience in precast or similar industry is preferred

Alaska Precast Solutions, part of the Remote Alaska Solutions family of operations, is leading a transformation in Alaskan construction with the launch of its cutting-edge Precast Hollowcore Plank Manufacturing Plant in Nikiski. We’re seeking a Prestressed Precast Concrete Plant / Production Manager to join the team early during the plant’s design and construction phase, transitioning into full responsibility for production operations at the plant. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the plant’s processes and production strategies from the ground up, ensuring efficient, high-quality operations.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the design, construction, and operational setup of a state-of-the-art precast concrete manufacturing facility.
  • Develop and implement efficient production workflows and procedures to meet project timelines and quality standards.
  • Lead all aspects of production operations, including scheduling, staffing, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure compliance with PCI and ACI standards, safety regulations, and environmental requirements.
  • Monitor production metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Collaborate with quality control and batching teams to ensure product consistency and adherence to specifications.
  • Train, mentor, and manage production staff, fostering a culture of teamwork and accountability.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree (preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 years in production management within the precast or prestressed concrete industry (preferred).
  • Proven leadership experience managing production teams in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with production scheduling, workflow optimization, and equipment maintenance planning.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of prestressed concrete production processes, including mix design, casting, and curing.
  • Familiarity with Elematic equipment and hollowcore production systems (preferred).
  • Experience with quality control standards and compliance with PCI or similar certifications.
  • Proficiency with production management software and basic computer applications.
  • Ability to calculate material needs, production metrics, and cost analyses.
  • Strong problem-solving skills for addressing production issues and improving efficiency.
  • Willingness to be hands-on during plant operations and startup.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and manufacturing best practices.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening and physical examination.
  • Experience starting up and commissioning a new manufacturing facility (preferred).

Licenses & Certifications:

  • PCI certification (preferred)
