Experienced detailer with minimum 5 years architectural and/or structural precast experience.  Detailer will utilize AutoCad and experience in BIM is a plus.  Position will be responsible for generating shop drawings as well as shop tickets once submittals are approved.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Produces shop drawings
  • Produces shop tickets
  • Generates fixes needed for erection
  • Coordinates with VP of drafting/engineering and addresses production questions on as needed basis
  • Attends precon meetings

Education & Experience:

  • High School diploma
  • Minimum 5 years architectural and/or structural precast experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • CAD experience required
  • BIM experience preferred
  • Proficiency in BlueBeam, Excel, Word, etc.

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Valid drivers license
  • Citizenship and/or Authorization to work in the United States

The Vice President of Design is a key executive role responsible for leading and managing the Engineering, Drafting, and Quality Teams Gage Brothers Concrete Products.

This position is remote WITHIN the Midwest. Candidates must live/work in one of the following states: Minnesota, South Dakota, North Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa, or Colorado. Travel to Sioux Falls, SD monthly.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead, Manage, and Hold Team Accountable:

  • Ensure team goals and metrics are met
  • Hire, fire, reward, and recognize based on Core Values
  • Establishes and implements the strategic direction of the company’s Engineering, Drafting, and Quality Teams
  • Oversee training and development of Engineering and Drafting teams

Oversee Preparation and Final Approval of Project Plans:

  • Performs cost analysis in development of projects to ensure budgets are met
  • Prepares and delegates preparation of project schedules and completion dates
  • Negotiates cost-effective contracts for the organization; coordinates and implements contractors work, and resolves any disputes over labor, scheduling, or payments
  • Assists and supports in the solving of complex engineering issues

Establish, Communicate, and Implement Engineering, Drafting, and Quality Policies, Standards, and Practices:

  • Collaborate with company’s executive leadership to develop and meet organizational goals while supplying expertise and guidance on projects, operations, and systems
  • Identifies, recommends, and implements new technologies and systems to improve organizational processes and decision-making
  • Ensure that departmental decisions are in line with organizational business plan and vision objectives
  • Develops and maintains production standards and plant certification

Lead Continuous Improvement Projects in Engineering, Drafting, and Quality Functional Areas:

  • Maintain knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in Engineering and Architecture related to the Precast industry
  • Establish and administer the departmental budget
  • Promote continuous improvement mindset to improve efficiency and drive down cost
  • Ensure adherence to building code and PCI guidelines
  • Lead new product development and product enhancement programs

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10 years prior experience in a Precast Design Engineering or Architectural Leadership or similar position, preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Structural/Civil/Architectural Engineering or related field/equivalent job experience, required.
  • List of Certifications Preferred: Licensed PE in South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, or Nebraska. Must be able to obtain certifications in these states.
  • Software Knowledge: MS Office, Engineering Software, Autodesk Revit, Concrete Vision.
  • Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC) design knowledge/experience, preferred.
