Class Visit to Project Site - Bridge Replacement No. 04156
Students from the Precast, Prestressed Concrete Bridge Design Class at the University of Massachusetts Amherst visited the project site for the replacement of Bridge No. 04156 in South Windsor, CT. The students previously visited the United Concrete Products' manufacturing facility to see how the N.E.X.T Beams were fabricated. During the site visit, the students got to see the N.E.X.T Beams during the installation process.
Practical exposure to project sites and manufacturing facilities adds significant value to the student's education. Visiting project sites provides students with real-world context for the concepts they learn in the classroom. Witnessing the installation of the N.E.X.T Beams further enhances their understanding of the practical applications of precast, prestressed concrete in bridge design.
