Dear Colleagues,

The precast concrete structures Industry has seen significant growth in its relatively short history. What began as a group of technical innovators manufacturing an essentially proprietary product is now a major provider of components and integrated building systems that enjoy widespread application.

Most importantly, the inherent advantages of precast concrete systems are in full alignment with today's societal priorities. This has positioned our Industry, potentially, to be recognized as providing a "better way to build."

It was recognized that we will never realize this potential unless two critical processes are in place. The first is developing future generations of talented architects, engineers, and construction professionals to advance our Industry; the second is organizing and supporting concerted research and development of new building systems and technologies to advance our society. The PCI Foundation was established to set up and execute these processes.

Stepping back, the goal of this effort is ambitious: To actively and aggressively define our own destiny. This would be a formidable challenge for any industry. However, as part of an Industry that helps define the built environment, we believe that by recognizing our inherent advantages, we assume an obligation to realize them. In short, we must offer the world a better way to build, because we can.

This worthy mission needs your financial participation as well as your personal involvement. The level of dedication and enthusiasm for this undertaking will be made clear to you by those who will soon be asking for your commitment.
